A powerful shift happened in my life when I stopped subscribing to habitual socialistic rhetoric of constantly being in search of “a Light at the end of the Tunnel” way of living. The Idea that my happiness, peace and relief from pain, discomfort and disappointment was tied to something or someone who would eventually have the power to control my unforeseen dark state was crippling. So instead I dug deeper ,found that I was the light within the tunnel & I lit that B*tch up. I am not a product of my environment, my environment is a product of the light within me and when I realized and accepted that, my entire life changed. God never puts your sanity, solitude and freedom in the hands of anyone, he has equipped you with every tool you need for the journey he has prepared for you, everyone & everything else are used merely as confirmation to being on the right path or not.#JourneyOf33 #Lighthouse #Page7

Joanne Borgella, 32 Years Old, was diagnosed with Cancer in October 2013 and after recently battling with painful headaches was told the cancer had spread It is never an easy pill to swallow when you know of someone who is facing a horrible illness, and it is even harder when you find out that this person so full of life, beautiful, talented and extremely optimistic about the outcome of the illness passes away. I mean yes we all know that once you hear those words, “You have CANCER”, that there is a possibility if even a slight one that you may not live through it, but then there is still that small piece of you that hopes that you will. Many ask Why & How this could happen to someone so young and vibrant yet still be faced with such a horrible deadly illness. Well while i have many questions, I choose to remember the impact I had on her spirit if even for a moment while she lived. Last October I wrote about Joanne’s journey and battle with cancer, and at that time she had just released a video about her diagnosis, even though her outer appearance seemed to be in good spirits to the naked eye, her eyes said something different. She was afraid, but yet still hopeful and her sharing her journey with the world wasn’t just about sharing with her fans, no, it was about her having the courage to accept this journey that had been placed upon her, it was her way of speaking hope into herself even more than it was about the fans, cause the truth is, Continue reading Remembering Joanne Borgella ( Season 7 American Idol Contestant and Wilhelmina Model Diagnosed with Cancer …Passes Away
Beautiful. Successful. Eclectic.Driven. Energetic. Famous. Entertainer. Weird. Too Dark. Too Skinny. Not Popular enough. Not Skinny enough.
ALL of the things surface level wise would be heard at any given moment, on any given picture, social media site, or random conversation, however non of those things describe who she really is, or was since we are speaking in current sense. We all have been guilty of it, spotting the negative, or vain things out first before acknowledging if they meet the current approval of social standards. Contrary we think this is all there is, or we know its not but would rather it be because those are the only things that seem to matter. I wonder how many moments passed where she felt inadequate, broken, sad, unworthy or just plan NOT ENOUGH. I wonder how many nights she cried herself to sleep wishing someone just understood or got it? First I would like to say I have the best supporters ever! You guys are truly amazing and really make my heart smile! When I originally began this Journey to better challenge, it wasn’t for public as I previously stated, I didn’t even consider it a challenge, it was more of a detox because of everything I had been going through I needed change. This year marks year 2 of my journey to better & it has been completely liberating! People began asking how I lost weight and what I did because of the change they saw on the inside, but I honestly hadn’t been able to fully focus on the weight loss physically because I was so excited about what I was feeling inwardwise. Shortly after I was suddenly inspiring so many people to join me, only I hadn’t actually put any blue print together. So Journey to Better Phase 2 is just that. Its different things that helped me on my original journey that all contributed to overall success for me, mentally, emotionally, spiritually & physically.

I know we all have the secret obsessions material wise, I mean we all love being able to purchase certain things or go certain places, but what many of us fail to understand is why at times it may feel as if something is still missing. How can you have the biggest house, the greatest friends, best opportunities , nicest cars, top education, the best bodies, etc and still not be happy. I mean how in the world can you still have problems in any area when you have all of the above? This is the illusion society has allowed to be created with the help of magazines, television, red carpets and much more, you know the picture perfect, don’t show your truth curtain. However what is never truly discussed is how you can have everything money can buy and still not be happy or satisfied. Truth is you can purchase everything that will help create a pseud , but eventually what is under the surface surfaces. People & their opinions, judgement , & perceptions of how life should be for you will eventually take a toll and you will lose yourself. Why? Because you are not really happy with the person you are, Continue reading Journey To better Phase 2-Day 11- Understanding True Happiness Doesn’t Come From “Things” That Make You Happy, But “Being” The Thing that Creates Your Happiness & The Lesson Legendary Robin Williams’s Sudden Death Should Teach Us.
We are Now On Day 7 Of Journey To Better Phase 2! I am beyond Excited! You should be happy for yourself! Trust me this journey is not by any means easy, I mean who said completely cleansing yourself inside and out would be?
I know you thought It would be all about just working off fat and toning huh! LOL. Well it all depends on how you look at it, internally you are filled with toxins, fat, and so much more and what you see outwardly is a mirror of that. So the only way to obtain life changing results and completely change your habits, you must first change your perspective and get to the reason you ended up in this stage of your life in the first place. So detox is definetly a body cleanse, however its includes the total body, inside and out. Once you have clear understanding on what needs to change, you will Continue reading Journey To Better Phase 2- Day 7- Put It All Into Perspective, & Evaluate Progress.
Truth is so many people will never get any further than they currently are for this one main reason…….They possess and live off of the woe is me, Ive been defeated mentality. What is that? It’s the prison in your mind that keeps you chained to your past, who hurt you, what you didn’t have, who took what, what mom did, why dad wasn’t there, what you have lost , your financial status, etc so on. I know you are thinking, well I cant get over it, Continue reading Journey To Better Phase 2- Day 5- Letting GO of the “Woe Is Me Victim Mentality”
Lets face it, we have goals we want to achieve and things we desire to have in life but there are a few things holding us back. Old Hurt, old baggage from childhood, anger issues, lack of self-control, lack of organizational skills, no actual plan of how to work towards the goals you want set, home is chaotic, lacking stability, old traditions, phone log full of too many ” In case of people” You know the ones, you call in case you are drunk texting,or in case you are bored, or in case you wanna gossip, etc so on. Not that these things feed into your life to assist in growth, but because they “Fill” your life to take up the empty space you can’t figure out within yourself to actual address. Those are stand by drainers. As dysfunctional as they may be , and no matter how miserable you may be around them, you can’t get enough. Well this is the reason you cant become who you are destined to become, because you refuse to release the ties that bind you to you a comfortable place. You would rather be around and within familiarity oppose to adapting to the unfamiliar because it seems more relatable. Imagine how much better you would feel if you actually achieved the things you say you want to do. Wouldn’t that be amazing? Well let me give you some tips that helped me, I wont act as if it was easy because it was not, but it was necessary and worth it!
- Change your perception of who you think you are– You have to get rid of the programmed thoughts on what you think you know about yourself, because until you do, you will only be able to go as far as your mind allows.

Many people who have been following my journey as a blogger, film creator & empowerment speaker are accustomed to my constant desire to transform. Not only mental, emotionally, & spiritually but also physically as well. I dont believe in half stepping so as i evolve as a woman , mentor, writer and cultural cultivator it was imperative that i evolved health wise as well. Although i had not developed any major health issues, i did know that certain diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, crohns disease and PCOS all ran within my family in some form or fashion and if i continued living as I was it would eventually be my fate as well. Although Crohns disease is not something you can prevent, it basically can lie dormant until something triggers it such as eating something you shouldn’t such as gluten filled foods etc. and we all know the cause of high blood pressure and diabetes. So at the age of 27 I decided Continue reading How being Featured In Huffington Post brought it all into perspective……
