So we are on Day 23 of Phase 2 Journey to Better Challenge, and so far the main focus has been on Mental, Emotional,& Spiritual health. Reason being is so many focus on the outer results and miss the key elements resulting in yo yo dieting and not many results that last beyond the moment you are in. This journey is about sustaining lasting results, and this is only obtained when you work on the inside out. Releasing baggage that holds you captive. Once these things are dealt with you are able to stick to the goals you set and achieve the ultimate results. Now many are confused on what being healthy really means. Is it your size jeans, is it the size of your hips, bottom or chest. Not quite. being healthy is not based on your outer appearance alone. Although in most cases it is a clear indication of unhealthiness, what determines your overall health are the maintenance of your inner self. Below are some things to check and gain control over to ensure overall better health!
Lets face it, we have goals we want to achieve and things we desire to have in life but there are a few things holding us back. Old Hurt, old baggage from childhood, anger issues, lack of self-control, lack of organizational skills, no actual plan of how to work towards the goals you want set, home is chaotic, lacking stability, old traditions, phone log full of too many ” In case of people” You know the ones, you call in case you are drunk texting,or in case you are bored, or in case you wanna gossip, etc so on. Not that these things feed into your life to assist in growth, but because they “Fill” your life to take up the empty space you can’t figure out within yourself to actual address. Those are stand by drainers. As dysfunctional as they may be , and no matter how miserable you may be around them, you can’t get enough. Well this is the reason you cant become who you are destined to become, because you refuse to release the ties that bind you to you a comfortable place. You would rather be around and within familiarity oppose to adapting to the unfamiliar because it seems more relatable. Imagine how much better you would feel if you actually achieved the things you say you want to do. Wouldn’t that be amazing? Well let me give you some tips that helped me, I wont act as if it was easy because it was not, but it was necessary and worth it!
- Change your perception of who you think you are– You have to get rid of the programmed thoughts on what you think you know about yourself, because until you do, you will only be able to go as far as your mind allows.

Many people who have been following my journey as a blogger, film creator & empowerment speaker are accustomed to my constant desire to transform. Not only mental, emotionally, & spiritually but also physically as well. I dont believe in half stepping so as i evolve as a woman , mentor, writer and cultural cultivator it was imperative that i evolved health wise as well. Although i had not developed any major health issues, i did know that certain diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, crohns disease and PCOS all ran within my family in some form or fashion and if i continued living as I was it would eventually be my fate as well. Although Crohns disease is not something you can prevent, it basically can lie dormant until something triggers it such as eating something you shouldn’t such as gluten filled foods etc. and we all know the cause of high blood pressure and diabetes. So at the age of 27 I decided Continue reading “How being Featured In Huffington Post brought it all into perspective……”
You are TOO FAT, You are TOO SKINNY. You are UGLY. You are Anorexic, You Eat TOO MUCH…BLAH BLAH BLAH!

With every negative thing you hear about your appearance, it slowly but surely tears off little pieces of your self esteem. Suddenly all thing things you have probably already felt about yourself are maximized by people and to you it confirms what you have already felt. YOU ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH. You will never have that dream career, because most people in corporate who have high positions have to look the part right? In order to be a Model you must be a size 0 with no fat present at all in order to even be considered, only to be told YOU ARE TOO FAT. You will never have that sexy surfer Guy or that Tall dark and handsome super successful man or the incredibly beautiful woman because SHE WOULD NEVER SPEAK TO SOMEONE LIKE ME, IM NOT THEIR TYPE OR IM JUST SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Imagine all the times you have already beaten yourself up and now, at this very moment, the world suddenly has an opinion and confirms the very things that have destroyed you inwardly all this time.

Ladies Im sure your asking What Is P.C.O.S?..Polycystic ovary syndrome is a condition in which a woman has an imbalance of a female sex hormones. This may lead to menstrual cycle changes, cysts in the ovaries, trouble getting pregnant, and other health changes.
PCOS is linked to changes in the level of certain hormones:
Estrogen and progesterone, the female hormones that help a woman’s ovaries release eggs
Androgen, a male hormone found in small amounts in women
It is not completely understood why or how the changes in the hormone levels occur. The changes make it harder for a woman’s ovaries to release fully grown (mature) eggs. Normally, one or more eggs are released during a woman’s period. This is called ovulation. In PCOS, mature eggs are not released from the ovaries. Instead, they can form very small cysts in the ovary.
These changes can contribute to infertility. The other symptoms of this disorder are due to the hormone imbalances.
Most of the time, PCOS is diagnosed in women in their 20s or 30s. However, it may also affect teenage girls. The symptoms often begin when a girl’s periods start. Women with this disorder often have a mother or sister who has symptoms similar to those of polycystic ovary syndrome.
No period after you have had one or more normal ones during puberty (secondary amenorrhea)
Irregular periods, that may come and go and may be very light to very heavy
PCOS can cause you to develop male-like characteristics. This is called virilization. Symptoms include:
Body hair growing on the chest, belly, face, and around the nipples
Decreased breast size
Enlargement of the clitoris
Thinning of the hair on the head, called male-pattern baldness
Voice gets deeper
You may also have skin changes:
Acne that gets worse
Dark or thick skin markings and creases around the armpits, groin, neck, and breasts. Ladies Go Get checked out!
What is Crohn’s? Crohn’s is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes inflammation of the lining of your digestive system, which can lead to flare-ups. Very painful!..
These Crohn’s disease symptoms, which range from mild to severe2 and vary widely from person to person1 may also include2:
- Frequent diarrhea
- Reduced appetite
- Weight loss
The symptoms of Crohn’s disease can be similar to other illnesses, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), colon cancer, and ulcerative colitis.3
To rule out other causes and pinpoint a Crohn’s disease diagnosis, your doctor may run one or more of the following tests1,2:
- Blood Work: Blood samples are tested for anemia or signs of inflammation
- Barium X-ray: When ingested via enema, barium allows internal organs to be seen clearly on an X-ray
- Colonoscopy: A procedure using a small tube to view the rectum and the intestines
- Biopsy: Tissue sample of any inflamed area taken for lab analysis
- Computer-Aided Tomography (CAT) Scan: A procedure utilizing computer imaging and X-ray scanning
- Video Capsule Endoscopy: Images of the digestive tract are transmitted via an ingested miniature camera to a computer.
