Ms.Jolie who is an amazing beautiful actress who is known for her killer acting skills and her ability to be so versatile on the screen, had a more private battle she had to fight , and in return making a very hard decision to have a Double Mastectomy to prevent her chances of developing Breast Cancer. A Disease which has taken so many lives, and while there are many amazing survivors and so many researchers driven at finding a cure, no one can deny the anxiety a woman feels and even men who battle the deadly disease feel when discovering they have developed cancer or carry the gene that causes cancer. So Angelina decided that after finding out she carries an 85% chance of developing cancer she decided to undergo the surgery, in February of 2013. Angelina’s mother who passed away at the age of 56 from Ovarian cancer was Angelina’s inspiration in making the decision not just for herself but for her children and Life partner Brad Pitt.
Angelina Said in an interview” “I can tell my children that they don’t need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer, For any woman reading this, I hope it helps you to know you have options. I want to encourage every woman, especially if you have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer, to seek out the information and medical experts who can help you through this aspect of your life, and to make your own informed choices.”“My chances of developing breast cancer have dropped from 87 percent to under 5 percent.”
What an amazing decision, Hopefully she empowers more women/men to take control of the preventative measures to prevent Breast Cancer, early detection is detrimental to our health.Many think breast cancer is only for women , but There are many men who have also survived or succumbed to the disease as well….
